From technology to politics to video games; these are the random thoughts of a geek with too much time on his hands
Sunny, tropical Michigan, here I come :D

Yes, that's right, I managed to bribe, borrow and steal my way into employment with Stardock! Several months back I started chatting up a few people about potential openings when I realized it was time to move on from my current employer. Recently, they started to open up hiring (https://www.stardock.com/jobs.asp) and I tossed my resume and cover letter into the hat (Cordelia helped a LOT with the cover letter!) And just recently went out for an interview and subsequently was offered a job, which I gladly took!

The role I've been brought in for is a mixture of software QA to help do more internal testing on products before they go out to the public test group, and a more nebulous role called "software evangelist" which is something that's still being described to me via email. But I do know that it means going forward, you're probably going to see my name a lot more within the Stardock community of sites, as well as on sites connected in some way to our products (i.e. Neowin, DeviantArt, any site that covers skinning and UI enhancements, games etc).

More than that, I'm not sure on. My last day at my current job is June 30th, and my start date with Stardock is July 12th. Sometime between now and then I'll be finding a place to live and then packing up all my crap and hauling it from Connecticut to Michigan.

But I'm sure my first duty will to be to get my new manager (Cordelia) a cup of coffee and a newspaper

Yeah...and don't forget *my* coffee. I take cream, sugar, and Kahlua.

Same for me except I will have to forgo the Kahlua until after the baby comes. Zoomba, I'll be easy to recognize. I'll be the hugely pregnant one who will probably be bringing Brad's lunch with his two mini-mes in tow.

Oh, donuts are always a good way to win us over too

Congrats Zoomba. That is really awesome.

Good luck with the new gig!

Yeah, looks like I get to enjoy the dubious honor of being the FNG around the office for a while

So essentially what you all are saying is I should show up with a box of donuts and a "Box of Joe" from Dunkin Donuts? (You do have Dunkin Donuts up there right?)

(You do have Dunkin Donuts up there right?)

HOw about Krispy Kreme?  best glazed donuts on this planet! (But DD has the best coffee).

Krispy Kreme is indeed awesome but we don't have them here. We do have DD though!

Congratulations Zoomba, and also congratulations Stardock (as I think this will be a great match for both sides).

Now is the DD phenomenon as wacked out there as here in CT? Here, you have them every 2-3 blocks.

I'll send a care package to Zoomba so he can do it up right!

Damnit... now I want a donut!

I know there was a gas station that had Krispy Kreme donuts in Michigan. It was on the corner of 6 mile and Haggerty, just down the road from where the old Stardock building was.

Congrats on the job Zoomba.

Man o man am I jealous. How did apartment shopping go this weekend. You missed a fun game of poker

I wish you the best Mike, it really was an awesome two years knowing you.

Climb that corporate ladder and hook a brother up! lol

Be warned though, I will NEVER get you a coffee unless it is my choice
