From technology to politics to video games; these are the random thoughts of a geek with too much time on his hands
Published on July 24, 2006 By Zoomba In WinCustomize News
Another week, another poll.  Last week's poll asked what new content you would most like to see come to WinCustomize.com.  Due to technical difficulties, many of you were unable to vote, and we only saw 105 total votes in the 7 days the poll was up.  For those of you who were able to cast your ballot, here's how it all turned out:

What new content would you like to see on WinCustomize.com?
  Tutorials 46 43.8%
  Contests/Competitions 32 30.48%
  Community Features 14 13.33%
  Product Reviews 13 12.38%

Tutorials won out by a healthy margin, with contests coming in second.  This sort of feedback is essential to keeping the site and community alive going forward and we always want to hear suggestions on what we could be doing better.

So please, feel free to toss your own thoughts on what WinCustomize needs going forward in the comments section, or email me at: MikeC [AT] stardock.com (address broken up to avoid spambots).

This week's question is simple: What do you think of the new forums?

Yes, we're aware the polls are still acting flaky

The new forums are a great improvement. The only fault I have found, if you can call it a fault, is that it's not resolution independant. At 1280x1024, there is a wide gap either side of the main text.

Why can't I vote on the polls. I see the results but there are no buttons to choose.

I think the new forums are great. However, one feature I enjoyed about the old forums was the ability to copy/paste a url into the comment section and have it show as a link. Also, I still can't hit enter key and have a new line. Now I have to use HTML tags.

I still can't vote though.

I could, and did vote.

Agreed, the url stuff needs to be looked into, although the 'insert url' button is a current alternative, and shows how to properly format the links you wish to insert.

Someone must be voting because it went from 7 to 9.

Same here...I the see results but can't vote.

The forums are a very nice touch. They are good to have when you are having trouble with a product whether it's Windowblinds, skinstudio etc. I'm glad that they are intact.

I could, and did vote.

The poll voting is issue is probably due to changes to the front page to make it more static to reduce DB load.  It is being looked into.
