Skinners, start your graphics apps!
Published on September 12, 2006 By Zoomba In WinCustomize News
The GUI’s is the ultimate Graphical User Interface (GUI) competition. Graphics designers from around the world will be competing in three primary GUI categories; Icons, Visual Styles and Wallpapers. This years’ competition has a prize pool totaling near $12,000!

Starting Tuesday, September 12th, skinners will be able to submit their work to the competition website (http://www.guichamps.com), with the first events being judged in early October, and the overall "Best Skinner" crowned the second week of November.

The GUI Championships 2006 is the third run for the competition and is supported by a number of highly-regarded technology and artist community sites. This year, our primary community sponsors are:

WinCustomize DeviantArt

Neowin Betanews

Lockergnome Microangelo

In addition to our community sponsors, we’re very close to announcing our two premier corporate sponsors who are going to be offering up some of our top competition prizes. News on our premier sponsors and the top competition prizes will be posted to the competition site in the coming weeks.

We’ve got a lot planned for the competition this year, so be sure to head over to the site, check out the rules and schedule and get those graphics tools fired up! Participate as an individual artist, or sign-up with a team of artists to be considered for additional team prizes.

In years past, some of the best skins, icons and walls came out of this competition, so we can’t wait to see what comes out on top this year!
