bitch, bitch, bitch!  and i thought i was a negative person. it seems some folks can only find negative things in life. i bought the suite and the ONLY thing that interest me is the blind. that in itself is worth the cost! and there's a great IP package as a bonus! the 8-ball widget is pretty cool. granted it isn't something you can't live without but it is fun to mess around with on occasion. maybe the weather widget is for US only, maybe it isn't. i'm not going to check. i'm not using it and have no interest. if you don't like what is available, don't buy it. there's no need to trash somebody's work.

No one is trashing work. Folks are providing feedback. Big difference.

Once you pay for a product, I think you have the right.

Great logic.. not.
It is not advertised that the weather gadget is US only. So unless it's not and I'm missing something, the gadget is broken and needs fixing.
The blind, icons, boot skin etc are great but that wasn't all I paid for. I paid for the whole package. I knew about the 8 ball beforehand, so even though I might moan about it's addition, I can't complain too much. But I can complain about a non functioning weather gadget.

The weather gadget is NOT for the United States only, to my knowledge. Just enter in the location code as seen on weather.com in your address bar. For example, my city (Calgary, Canada) has the country code of CAXX0054, as retrieved from: http://www.weather.com/outlook/travel/businesstraveler/local/CAXX0054

Make sense?
on Sep 27, 2006

Typical weather gadgets *that are free* pull from weather.com.  However, they do not allow for commercial use, which is why the weather gadget that is in Fortune does not.  It actually parses data from the US government weather info site, which is why it only works in the US.

The Fortune suite is really inspired by the Fortune Ball, which sells as a gadget on desktopgadgets.com (as a standard 8-ball) for almost $5.00 on its own.  So, for $4.00 more, there is an added weather gadget, a skin, wallpaper, logon, bootskin, and set of 256x256 icons.

This is a different kind of suite than the others, and not all suites will have the same components and features.

We hope to provide a weather gadget for non-us people as possibly a "free" gadget (to get around the use restrictions).

Thanx for the info.

Of a manner, I don't regret my purchase.

Ok, we're discussing it on the irc channel at the moment.
on Sep 27, 2006

We plan on providing a different gadget other than the weather gadget in an update to the suite.  This update should happen next week so that the non-US customers receive the full value of the suite.

Thank you CerebroJD for your help in this!
