Extra Alien-Goodness, Now Without The Probe!
Published on October 13, 2006 By Zoomba In WinCustomize News
Alienware has teamed up with Stardock Corporation, the world’s leading desktop enhancement company, to create the new Xenomorph desktop theme. This theme allows Windows PC users to download and apply a slick new look to their desktop with just a few clicks.

Created for Alienware by Stardock Design and powered by Stardock's Theme Manager software, this is the most complete theme ever created for an OEM partner. The Theme includes:

• WindowBlinds Visual Style
• Custom Icon Set
• Wallpaper
• Desktop Gadget RSS Reader (requires a separate download)
• ObjectDock OEM
• Installer and all software needed to transform your desktop.

Xenomorph, the most recent of many themes developed jointly, is available as a free download from the Alienware site at http://www.alienware.com/intro_pages/invader.aspx. Registration is required. This theme can be used by anyone, regardless of whether or not you own Stardock software.

Already own Stardock software? Then you can get the suite right here on WinCustomize:

Oh, and as for the toolbars not being skinned. How about if we all start uploading WB's without the startmenu being skinned. Then lets see how many people complain over the skin not being finished. If it's a part of windowblinds...skin it. You think about it.

I'm not bothered that the toolbar icons are not skinned...... I'm bothered that the DEFAULT Windows icons are included as part of the skin. If a skinner doesn't want to bother with the toolbars, no problem, but don't include the defaults ...... we already have those.

Im happy with the suite. It contains useful information such as CPU and Memory usage plus the weather. And as always I can drag my shortcuts to it. The only thing that kinda pissed me off was the inability to remove the seperators.

I'm a little surprised there are no props given to the individual artists since I've been slammed numerous times for doing the same thing. Who did the icons? Great job on them. The best part of the suite. The rest is just average looking but the icons are definitely noteworthy. Soon as I find out who did them I'm going to hire them

Beats the other 2 alienware blinds to death IMO... AND...
People were not forced to use that crap application that signed you up for SPAM newsletters with this suite.

There's more than 2 and the first set garnered more than 2.5 million downloads within the first year. We can't control how a client distributes our work. As far as your opinion on what beats what to death, you're free to like whatever you like. Isn't that great?

Well, we know MikeB did the windowblind. He has a habit of leaving his (old) red radio button in the folder. Nothing at all wrong with it. I just think it's funny. Nobody but me probably notices it.

As for the icons, If I had to make a guess, was done by Mike (if they were, he got 'dang' good over night) or Ian Black. I might be way off though.

Except there is no mention in the description of who's created what. I believe I have a right to say something since I've been repeatedly bashed over the years for doing the same exact thing. Only it's ok when Stardock does it. Isn't that just a tad hypocritical?

Or does it just bring home to you how annoying/frustrating it can be?....

Jafo: No because I know who did it or suspected who did it. I figured Mike B did the theme since it looks like his work and Ian would probably work the icons. I didn't know for sure until the other day though. No my point is I got slammed left and right for not displaying who did what when we released our work. So much so that I had Brad doing a news blurb giving props to an artist who I paid. Which was tacky and frankly out of line. Its no one's business who does the work but mine since i'm the one who pays the artist. Brad had zero right to announce to the world who did the work on our skin suites. Now that they are trying to capitalize on our success its all very hush hush who did what in the descriptions. Sure they might get props as authors inside the actual skins but i was getting slammed for not mentioning them in the descriptions. That my friend is the definition of being hypocritical.
