From technology to politics to video games; these are the random thoughts of a geek with too much time on his hands
Part 1
Published on October 20, 2006 By Zoomba In WinCustomize News

Several weeks back, Brad posted a bit of news talking up some of the new features of WinCustomize 2007, and everyone seemed pretty excited about it.  Since then though we've been pretty quiet about the project, and that's left some of you just chomping at the bit for more details, maybe a screenshot or two.  Something, anything to show that we are in fact still working on it!

Well, today we're ready to toss you your first taste of the new site.  I've posted an article with some screenshots of segments of the new site, and compare them to the equivalent screens on the current site.  As we get closer and closer to making the site live, you'll be seeing more previews with more information.

But that's all in the future.  For now, I give you part 1 of the WC2k7 preview!  Enjoy.

Go here: GameRenders, and go to the bottom of the forum, go into 'Website Templates' and look at a few. They are experts with designs, and all the experts say don't use bevel with website designing.

And trust me, I've tried beating that, and it came out like shit. That's the only website that I've ever used trying with bevel.

Got an error unfortuantly. "mySQL error: Too many connections"

I'm just curious to why they say never use bevels.

Is the new page nice and pure XHTML & CSS or table terror like the old one?
on Oct 23, 2006
As a web designer myself, I have to agree about the beveling. It is graphically unpleasant, to me at least. A slight bevel is ok, however sometimes it's just too much. What I see is 3D on top of 3D on top of more 3D...not cool! Some people may like it, but I bet a lot of professionals would disagree. The drop down and page navigation menu on the gallery page could use some work...Apart from the beveling issues, it's looking good!
...just my first thoughts

It's pure XHTML & CSS.. not a single table to be found.

So when will it be released? Next year?

No....probably something like 2007.

I'd 'a thought the title said it all.

Too much concerning oneself with bevels...failed to read the thread....

As for bevels....try telling people to STOP using lens flare filters.... and see how much luck you have....

...or Bryce Torus's

...or dismembered Posers....

...or dolphins....
