You've shown your support for us at GameSpy.  You've spread the love and merriment at 1Up.  I'm sure you've also told all of your friends and family which game is the best PC game this side of Barnards Star.  Well, though your tireless efforts on our behalf are always appreciated, we must once again reach out to you, our devoted fans, to help further spread the word of Galactic Civilizations II: Dread Lords.

This time around, it's the GameSpot Best & Worst 2006 Awards.  They've started taking user votes for the "Best of Genre" awards.  Surprisingly enough, Gal Civ 2 is nominated in the Strategy Genre which is a shockingly short list.  In this particular race we're up against outstanding strategy titles such as Company of Heroes and Dawn of War from Relic, Medieval II Total War from Creative Assembly and Star Wars Empire at War from Petroglyph, all excellent titles any strategy gamer should have on their shelves (I have all of them at home).  But again, we all know who the clear winner is, and we here in the super-secret underground Stardock fallout shelter know that you, our fans and supporters, will help us out and cast your vote for Galactic Civilizations II: Dread Lords.

Genre winners will be announced in just TWO DAYS! So hurry, get your vote in now before it's too late.

I read a favorable review of GalCiv2 on GameSpot back in Nov. 2005. I had never heard of GalCiv before but like many of us I was looking for a space strategy game with great gameplay, good graphics, and a good AI. Based on the strength of that review I preorder and got to partake in the beta program!

The gameplay video on GameSpot dates back to Feb. 2005! That's a full year before the release and before the graphics were completed! I think it is time to upload a new video based on v1.4 plus add a video with the latest beta of DA.

I just voted; GalCiv2 is up to 602 votes and 14%. We'll need over 20% to have a chance to win! I wish I could see the percentages for the other 4 nominees.

689 votes now. And 14%.

Not overly optimistic about the chances of GC II. But the fact that there is some good competition, means PC strategy games still have a life.

Well, that's my broad and sweeping statement, to cover up any disappointment.
