So the game is "Gold" and your mouse finger is getting that galactic
genocidal twitch again. You want to subjugate races, forge treaties,
establish your trade empire and deploy your newly designed "Vicious Knid" Class
destroyer against your opponents. Alas, you'll have to wait a bit longer
before satisfying your inner megalomaniac, and for the time being draw your
Galactic Civilizations sustenance from these two succulent previews from
GameShark and
GamingNexus.
Tyler Sager took a shot at Dark Avatar for the GamingNexus preview.
It's a nice 1 page synopsis of what you can expect to see when you either
download your final copy from Stardock Central, or pick up Gold Edition in
stores later this month. Tyler suggests that Dark Avatar is going to be
just as much of a time-eater as the original game. Heck, he leads off the
preview with "One... more... turn..."
"Like each Stardock expansion, Dark Avatar also comes with a slew of
technical tweaks and balances, continuing to hone the series into one of the
best strategy franchises ever to grace the PC. I’m just drooling over this
title, and the beta didn’t even give me a chance to see the full-blown
campaign or additional scenarios in action. Stardock is currently busy
polishing up the last bits of code, but we should see this gaming gem in the
next few weeks via Totalgaming.net’s online service."

Next our friends at GameShark, who gave Galactic Civilizations II: Dread
Lords, the runner-up spot in their Game of the Year awards, have penned a few
words of their own on how they feel about the pre-release build they've been
playing is shaping up. Writer William Abner definitely has high praise for us in
this preview.
Galactic Civilizations II: Dread Lords is arguably the best turn-based
"4X" game ever made. Stardock’s epic strategy game proved that there’s still
room for a great turn-based design within an industry full of real-time
instant gratification. With stellar AI, sharp visuals, and excellent
gameplay, GalCiv II was the complete sequel. Now, the company is trying to
add even goodies to the package with the upcoming expansion: Galactic
Civilizations II: Dark Avatar.
