Last week, we talked a bit about the possibility of a live Internet radio show for the WinCustomize community, and the response was fairly positive with a few people being down-right excited about it. well, internally we think it's a cool idea that could be a lot of fun to experiment with and are getting our ducks in a row so to speak to try and give the idea a shot.
However, before we do the real, full show, we need to do a dry-run, figure out the gotchas and iron out as many problems and kinks as we can so when we do the first real show, it'll go smoothly and be a huge overnight success, taking the skinning community by storm! For this test run, we're going to need a handful of volunteers from the community so we can play with call-ins (VoIP, regular phone), users doing listen-only, managing the caller queue etc. The goal is to get a mix of users that will approximate what we'll probably see for the real show.
We are going to do the test show next Tuesday, May 22nd at 6pm Eastern Time. To help us out you need to have the following:
- A Windows PC with a functioning sound card
- A working PC microphone/headset (configured before the test to avoid feedback)
- OR a phone you can place a long-distance call on.
- A broadband Internet connection (sorry dial-up users)
I'm looking for roughly a dozen people total. Some will be asked to call-in on the test show, some to just listen. Some to listen via the special chat app, some via a feed off of a website. I'll also be asking for feedback and notes on getting the required software installed for VoIP call-ins etc. The test will likely run an hour total, maybe longer if we hit too many snags, or end up having too much fun chatting.
Post here if you're interested, and I'll drop you an email with all the details.
