From technology to politics to video games; these are the random thoughts of a geek with too much time on his hands
How do you see our lovable mascot?
Published on October 9, 2007 By Zoomba In WinCustomize News

Every day.  Day-in and day-out I see the same smiling lizard staring at me, giving me that thumbs up and leaning casually against something.  He's at the top of the page, he's in my news posts, he's everwhere!  He's driving me mad!

Here's what I want.  I need some more variations of Winky to use in news posts and articles here on WinCustomize.  You've seen a few variations here and there such as Winky Wearing Headphones, Winky Holding Court, or Winky Wins a Medal.  And while those are very nice, I want a little bit more variety to choose from.

So I turn to you, the community, for some new takes on our old friend.  Here are some ideas to start everyone off.  You're in no way limited to these, this is just to get your creative juices flowing

Halloween Winky Thanksgiving Winky Christmas Winky
Winky the Reporter Techno Winky Pirate Winky
Nerdy Winky Teacher Winky Angry Winky

Once you've put together your Winky Masterpiece, post a picture in the comment section of this post.  Depending on how many we get, I may run a poll or two to find the most popular to use on the site.

Make the Winkys such that they can be easily scaled to 128x128px without being distorted.

I'm looking forward to what everyone comes up with!

I can't say for certain - but looking at the URL you used on the previous page, I think it may be incomplete. I just took a look at the Windows Live site and tested an image.

The address is a fair bit longer than the one you were using. Have you tried pasting the address into your browser and navigating to the image that way - just to test the URL?

Okay, I tried that and couldn't get to it. I guess I'll try one of the other image hosting facilities you mentioned>

Thanks for helping me figure this out.

Looks like you are using imageshack. If you click on the picture you uploaded to highlight it, then click on the info button next to it for image details, it will bring up another screen. On that screen, below the pic is a button for getting links. Click that. Then scroll all the way to the bottom. Use the "direct link" URL.
