From technology to politics to video games; these are the random thoughts of a geek with too much time on his hands
Full details coming soon

Heavy Equipment is one of the largest skin projects ever attempted, with dozens of skins for almost every application imaginable.  It took dozens of skinners months to do, but the result was without a question one of the most impressive skin sets released.  Nothing has really come close since then.

In the past year we've seen groups of skinners get together to do their own smaller skin projects, and while the results have been superb, they lacked scale.  And of course there was some disagreement over being able to call them community projects since they weren't open to absolutely everyone.

Well, in the coming weeks we're going to start to talk about the next true community project.  It will be open to anyone who wants to participate and will accept skins for any application you care to skin.  Jafo himself will be leading the charge on the project and organizing volunteers and work.

As a bit of a preview, the theme of the project is going to be a worn/corroded metal.  Heavy Equipment was so clean and pristine, but now we're going to try something with some years on it, something with more "character" I guess.

If you're interested in the idea, start lining up.  We'll have more details for you soon when we're ready to officially kick things off.  I just wanted to let you know it's coming and see if we can start kicking up some interest and ideas.

You need to get with the program and not be jumpin the gun with judgments. Many of us here have been here since the beginning of time and joke around with each other...mods included.

By all means, carry on. What about even more than one version of the WB, etc., maybe based on the same core graphics? I'd like to see everything skinnable done.

What the hell? Why are you taking offense? I've been a member since 2002. I played with Windowblinds as far back as 1998 (first GUI Champ-Allen Bond).

I loved this blind, and when Harley offered, I jumped. I thought you were kidding from the way you offered, not that it matters.

Now then, as for the Mod thing: Unless you see me make a comment like this below (for example) my comment is just like any other Community Member:

-------------------------------------------------

[Mod Hat On]

Stop the personal insults immediately, it violates the TOS.       <- for example only.

-------------------------------------------------

And one other thing which I've told you several times already, neone6 - I'm not a Gallery Moderator.

I do not rate skins. I do not pass or reject skins. I do not assign them to galleries, Personal Pages nor Reject them.

Anything I have to say about one skin or another is the same as any other member.

Is this a go?

If so will there still be sample graphics?

Question.....again, lol. Heavy Equipment...are all the skins still available and if so where might I find them? I don't know if all of it will fit on my screen but I'd sure love to give it a shot. BTW...I remember when it first got started. I was overwhelmed by it all. I wasn't skinning anything then. Oh....it was done for XP. Well...I got two that were done for XP and they work fine on Win 7.

Go to the windowblinds gallery and do a search for "Heavy Equipment". You should get 2 pages of skins. The .wba and one other aren't there. I believe the rest are.

What happened to the WB? If you don't mind my asking.

I'm correcting myself. Just visited the pages for Heavy Equipment. It actually started in 2001, that's five years before I joined WC and it stretches out over six years ending in 2007. That is really saying something. Freakin' awesome!!
