From technology to politics to video games; these are the random thoughts of a geek with too much time on his hands

Well, just a short while ago, we crossed the 500th listener to Episode 1, and this morning we were listed on the iTunes Podcast directory (you can even search for us).  Not bad for a 30min deal we barely managed to put together in time for Monday!

Tonight we're going to record Episode 2 and we'd like to get a few listener questions for the session.

Episode 2 will just be Island Dog and myself, as we haven't had a chance to line up any skinners just yet.  So keep that in mind when asking your questions.  Post them here or PM them to us.  We'll be recording around 7:30pm EST tonight.

We are working on setting up a Skype mailbox for people to call in with questions so we can cut in audio clips from the community.

With impulse becoming the new interface with Stardock, how are Premium/Master Suites going to be handled? I see the "My Color" suites I've purchased but I can't find any reference to the Premium and/or Mater Suites. I know they aren't part of SDC either. I assume the Master program will continue so I wonder if there will be a way to handle those within Impulse.

I should clarify, we're really looking for WC/Skinning questions, not Stardock product questions.  While we'll obviously talk about Stardock stuff, this isn't The Stardock Software Podcast.

I'll have a post up tomorrow talking about what's happening with MyColors/Premium Suites/Master Skins.

I've a few:

What's the percentage of Vista vs XP at WC?
What's the rate of change since Vista launch?
Have you seen a marked change in what's being uploaded and downloaded?

64bit is becoming more popular (slowly).
Can WC track that and does it?
Is there a measurable rate of change?

What's the most popular submission category?
Waht category do you guys go to first on WC?
What other skinning sites do you go to?
What about them do you admire?

Object Edit was supposed to be updated in May last year or maybe even the year before that. When will that happen?

Have you noticed how the different styles of skinning are changing over the past ten years? I am not talking about just the changes due to the program adaptations, I mean styles, what's popular, what seems to be a trend. (ie: like we get waves of grey skins, or waves of blue skins etc.... ) Is it because skinners are seeing the popularity of certain skins and trying to emulate, or is it because those styles work better with the technology available today? Do you even have an opinion on the subject??

With the new features in many stardock products, it's now almost "easy" to adapt the color of  any skin to match your personal tastes. Do you see a future where skinners create  skins that are very color adaptable? How do you see the future of skinning where the user gets the chance to make skins made by others, more personal?

Do you think, as more people are considering using older skin files, there will be a word or two, in the download section, that shows  if a skin is compatible with newer systems/programs? or would that be too much work (assuming someone else did the research and you just posted the results on the library?)
