Grilling & fireworks, what could be better?
Published on July 3, 2008 By Zoomba In WinCustomize News
To all of our US community members, I'd like to wish you all a happy Independence Day holiday filled with grilling, fireworks and all other sorts of fun.  Be safe, enjoy the time off, and relax!

Because of the holiday weekend, Stardock is closed starting today, July 3rd and will reopen on Monday, July 7th.  This means that until Monday, there will be no official support available on these forums, via phone or e-mail.  Everyone here at Stardock is taking a few days of well-earned vacation to spend time with friends and family and enjoy the holiday festivities.

So if we're slow getting to a forum thread, or replying to an email, it's not that we're ignoring you, it's just that we're on vacation for a few days.  We'll get to all of your questions and issues when we get back to the office.

Have a great weekend!

Happy 4th of July Weekend

I love Zoomba like a brother . . but why oh why does he have to irritate me? {Oh . . he'd be a little brother . . makes sense now }

But anyway . . . he hit a nerve in his title and I'm going to go a bit off to respond.  Below is a letter I sent to the local newspaper:

Independence Day vs. Fourth of July

Dear Editor:

Every year I am disheartened to see the anniversary of our country’s birth regulated to just another day of the month by so many people who call it the “4th of July” instead of “Independence Day”. I see it on adverts and in the local papers.

No one calls Christmas “December 25th” because those that celebrate it as a religious holiday know that the cause for celebration is in the name.

By calling Independence Day, “Independence Day” we can reinforce to each other and to our children that it’s not just a day to have barbecue, see a parade, and watch fireworks. It becomes a day to remember where we came from and what our forefathers did for us. It gives us incentive to talk to our kids about what those fireworks represent and how we are a part of the process.

Independence Day is about America and should be treated better.

In any case . . . Happy Birthday America!

2of3, do New Yorkers grill hot dogs or just let them sit in warm, dirty water all day?  Where are your roots?

Sigh.....

I'll still be around.

July 4 here is just another day.....

Fancy having a special holiday just because a bunch of disparate peeps banded together and thwarted an alien invasion.  Can't believe that George Bush could fly a fighter plane and such though....I think they were having a lend....

Happy 4th, guys...

actually the hotdog vendors usually sit them in steamers above warm dirty water... and it is what makes a ny dog taste so um... special...
those of us from ny and nj, are immune to any germs created by this, as we are fed those dogs from the time we get teeth to chew em ... guess it's an "armpit" thing...
(if your'e not from jersey that won't make sense.. if you are, you totally get it)

In any event,
Happy Independence day United States!!!

What ever you wish to call this Holiday is up to you.

The more important issue is that you take the time to understand what it all means and how we got to where we are today. You know, the big picture.

If it's just yourself or with friends and family spend a few moments thinking or talking about it. It really is quite an interesting story and needs to be passed on to the next generation.

Remember, we are the History to our children.

Have a wonderfull Holiday weekend and remember, once you light the firecracker, you have to get rid of it!
