From technology to politics to video games; these are the random thoughts of a geek with too much time on his hands
Those rewarding moments that keep you coming back for more...

Anyone who has played video games for any amount of time has that one instant, that one experience in a game that overshadows all others and becomes part of the driving reason they continue to play. Be it unlocking that secret level, reaching the end of a compelling story line, or finally beating that impossible boss using nothing more than a rubber band and some small rocks, most of us have experienced these moments of extreme triumph and they remind us why we love to play.

These are the moments we try and recapture in every game we play. Sometimes we find them again in other games and we're reenergized for a time. Sometimes we think we'll definitely recapture that feeling with a certain title but come away profoundly disappointed (*cough* MoO3 *cough*). However, it seems that those moments come along just often enough to keep us going... just when we think it's over, that the lure of the hobby has worn off, we get bit by the bug again and we're set to go for a few more months/years.

My question to you, gamers of JU, is what was your single greatest gaming moment? That moment that you look back on years later and point to as being the best, the most fulfilling, the most enjoyable.

Once a few answers have been thrown down, I'll share my great moment

It wasn't a video game, but can I count my greatest Pinball moment (well, ok whole day)?

It was at an amusement park in Utah called Lagoon. The machine... "Captain Fantastic & The Brown Dirt Cowboy" (Yes, based on the Elton John album).

The feat: 174 replays, played for 5 1/2 hours straight off one quarter (would have played longer, but alas, Lagoon's arcade closed at midnight).

Now that was a a quarter well spent!! ;~D

In the Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, I finally got the second to last castle in the dark world while obtaining mostly everything.

When I was younger, I couldn't beat all the castles in the dark world and making it to the point as an adult was awesome.
