Zoomba's Articles In Politics

The other night, I turned on the State of the Union Address to hear what the plan was for our nation going forward into the last year of the Bush Presidency.  I expected a little bit of reflection on the last 7 years, and a strong push for something new in the final year. I also expected some amusing verbal slips Unfortunately, it feels like I got neither.  From what I could tell, there were three primary topics: The Economy Education The War on Terror Now, I know ev...

This one is for you, the extreme liberals of JoeUser who have spent the past year and a half I've regularly blogged here screaming, stomping and gnashing teeth over the pure evil that is George Bush and the vile conspiracies of the Right. You have helped me further define my political views, my stances on issues and my attitude towards our government and the world at large. Thanks to you, I intend to re-register as an Independent. That's a change AWAY from Democrat. I grew up in a Uni...

Lots of people blog daily on this site... I visit and read articles at least 2-3 times daily if I can manage it. Some of the stuff here is excellent, some is paranoid dribbling. And some of it is completely useless... the sort of stuff that adds no value or content to the site (I rank online diaries higher than the following blogger types simply because diary writers at least are putting thought behind what they're writing). Linkers, Spammers and Article Reposters. It started with blogs...

Swift Boat Veterans For Truth.... The CBS Document Fraud.... Bush's National Guard Scandal. All a load of irrellevant BULLSHIT. Who cares who did what over 30 years ago? Look back on your own lives, if you're old enough glance back at the person you were 30 years ago and some of the things you did that you wish you hadn't given your current knowledge and wisdom. If you're not old enough, just look back to the things you did in High School or College. How many here can say they didn't d...

The Iowa Caucuses and the New Hampshire primary are approaching swiftly, which kick off the 2008 Presidential race in a major way.  But so far, I just can't get any real enthusiasm going for the race. Why?  Because so far, it's been boring as hell beyond a few moments of enjoyable stupidity.  Lets look at the Democrats first... You've got Clinton 2.0, The Oprah Candidate, John "I'll save the little guy" Edwards, and then a collection of other candidates that don't app...

This race has been horrible. Absolutely dismal. The democratic party managed to run its campaign straight into the ground, and then beat itself over the head repeatedly with bricks. The press didn't help matters much by making it completely and utterly obvious that they were trying to stack the race in favor of Kerry. I don't think we've ever had a campaign this poorly managed across the board. Kerry added to the circus by flip-flopping his position once he got the Dem nomination. As a ...

Good Morning JoeUser! In case you've been under a rock for the last few weeks, you're aware that today is Election Day.  So for the rest of the day and well into the evening in many states, folks across America are going to their local polling location to cast their ballot. Because the Presidential race is so contested this year, officials are expecting record turnouts.  Already, in states that held early voting, we've seen massive lines and wait times upwards of 6 hours.  I...

Welcome to JoeUser Mr./Ms. Liberal. You are about to embark on a wild and crazy journey through the little community on the web we’ve worked so hard to build. As a fellow Liberal-minded person, I feel it is my duty to both welcome you and warn you of what you’re about to get involved in. At first glance, it will look like this is a right-wing run site. It will look like the liberals here have been run off with torches and pitchforks. If you’re way way far out on the left, it will loo...

We lost the election. We lost it when we should have won it in a landslide. There was so much anti-Bush sentiment out there that it should have been a walk-in-the-park. But it wasn’t. We lost solidly in Congress too. We’re going to lose the next set of elections too the way we’re going. How did we fall so far from The Clinton Years, when even a cigar and a stain on a blue dress weren’t enough to diminish the nation’s love-affair with the Democratic Party? Simple answer really… The De...
