Published on July 17, 2006 By Zoomba In WinCustomize News

Today, according to a BetaNews report, Microsoft released Windows Vista Build 5472 to technical beta testers, TAP customers and MSDN subscribers.  The focus of this latest build is quality/performance enhancements along with some minor changes to user account security.  Microsoft has acknowledged the shortcomings in performance in the current Beta 2 builds.  Mike Sievert, corporate VP of Windows client marketing was quoted as saying "Vista in its beta form is pretty taxing on the system.  It's slow and a little non-responsive."

This build is limited to the groups listed above and will not be released to the Customer Preview Program.  The next build CPP members will see will be Release Candidate 1 near the end of the quarter.

Is this quarter Juli, August and September?

I believe so. They'd have to have RC1 out by the end of Q3 if they hope to have a shot at an early Q1 2007 release.

I am not privy to official information, but I expect RC1 to be the drop at around this time next month. Unless things slip again, them having it available in November for corporate customers sets some dates.
