From technology to politics to video games; these are the random thoughts of a geek with too much time on his hands

Since the tech world is largely quiet aside from the flurry of Apple related news following the WWDC keynote yesterday, I'm going to share possibly one of the stranger technology news stories I've run across lately.  It's an article on CNN.Com today entitled "Couple-surfing: 'Love me, love my blog'".

The basic premise is that as we become more hooked on technology, become more at home with blogging and instant messaging, that it has begun to move into some of the most intimate parts of our lives.  Only now, instead of it being steamy emails and risqué web cam sessions late at night by the socially inept, it's becoming mainstream.  Now people are going on dates where they don't speak to one another out loud, they chat back and forth on the computer because typing is a more comfortable form of communication.  There's even one anecdote in the article about a couple, married for 12 years, that for a time communicated through blogs without ever discussing their feelings face-to-face.

Check out the complete story on CNN.

I'd have to disagree with you. For boyfriend/girlfriend where one goes away on vaction, this is great! Or for families with parents gone to war, blogging\emailing\chatting REALLY helps ease distance. I think this is great if you want to show someone how much you care about them, but can't reach them physically.
