Yet another zero-day exploit has been published for Microsoft's PowerPoint presentation software. This vulnerability can give attackers complete control of a vulnerable box and allow them to run arbitrary code on the system. This comes on the heels of another vulnerability in PowerPoint discovered last month and addressed in August's "Patch Tuesday" which allowed the same sort of attack. There is little known on this new attack yet, except that it is distributed via a trojan horse.
While the exploit has been identified, no Anti-Virus software makers have provided updated definitions yet to protect against a potential attack. It will be several weeks yet before the next Patch Tuesday when this issue could be resolved.
