Kevin Mitnick, at one point considered the most notorious hacker in the world before being arrested by the FBI in 1995 and serving a 5 year prison sentence, has been himself hacked.  On Sunday afternoon, the webistes KevinMitnick.com and MitnickSecurity.com were hacked to display an explicit message about Mr. Mitnick and hacking, starting with "ZOMG!! THE MITNICK GOTZ OWNED!!" along with a string of expletives and a photoshoped image of Mitnick.

The hackers, presumed to be from Pakistan, compromised the entire server which hosts multiple sites, but only Mitnick's sites were defaced.  There's still no information on how the site was hacked, but the sites are back up and running without issue.

That's "notorious" becuase he got caught. You've probably never heard of the "best".

Making news items and such about these guys is just wrong. They don't have any notoriety until you give it to them.

Hmm they really shouldn't be called hackers. Isn't it a crime to invade one's privacy? Therefore they should be classified as criminals, therefore they should be reported upon as being criminals. When will the media leave us alone and get things right for a change?
