Those of you just dying to be on the bleeding-edge can now go out and get the second beta build for Firefox 2.0 from the Mozilla FTP site.  We've previously reported on the new user interface being designed by Radiant Core, but it looks like this build doesn't have that in yet.

Go forth, download, install and be merry!

And let us know what you think.

Great Addition Zoomba. I was going to post about this myself... Mozilla Firefox 2 Beta 2 offers the following, for those wanting to try it out: (I'd highly recommend.. Seems very nice soo far. However, certain add-ons and themes won't be compatible with the new version.)

What's New in this Development Milestone

There is a lot in Firefox 2 Beta 2 that you can play around with and give us feedback on:

* A new theme that updates Firefox's familiar interface
* Built in Phishing Protection
* Enhanced search engine management and search suggestions for Google, Yahoo! and Answers.com
* Improvements to tabbed browsing, including the ability to re-open recently closed tabs
* Firefox will resume from where you left off after a system crash or browser restart
* Better support for previewing and subscribing to Web feeds
* Inline spell checking in Web forms
* The ability to create bookmarks with "Live Titles" for Web sites that offer microsummaries
* New Add-ons manager that simplifies management of extensions and themes.
* Support for JavaScript 1.7
* Extended search plugin format
* Updates to the extension system to provide enhanced security and to allow for easier localization of extensions
* Support for client-side session and persistent storage
* Support for SVG text using svg:textPath
* New Windows installer based on Nullsoft Scriptable Install System

If the old themes don't work I will keep the old version...

I just installed the Beta 2 and I didn't notice anything new besides candy-effect buttons in the interface. Anyway looks nicer then the old one

I just noticed another cool feature. The spell check in HTML forms actually works properly

Whats the new theme look like? I've been hearing it looks washed out for OS X.

New icons, very vaguely new bars. *shrug* It's smoother, I suppose.

Hey, look, inline spell-checking and a bin for closed pages. What a novel idea for a browser! I love that Firefox's dev team is so original in their ideas.

I just installed and it work very nicely

One of those thing about 80/20 rule, 20% of tool is very useful and 80% is nice to have but not often used, just like Office Word which 80% of tool/feature is never used. However I found extension and theme more useful than 80/20 rule predict.

One of major problem with many application that it become so overbloated with features, it become so complex to use, we tend not to use it. They tend to includes it in order to sell products and get slightly better rating than other competior.

This apply to Mac OS and Window Vista and even worst, Linux/Unix. It fact of life.

You still can. Nightly Tester Tools, force your themes/extensions to be compatible. https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/958/

don't really like the 'hand' cursor over an active tab

The new icons are hardly noticeable.

Since I use the Tabbrowser Preferences extension, not seeing the * Improvements to tabbed browsing, including the ability to re-open recently closed tabs.

It seems to be a bit faster, might be my imagination.

Don't like the new way multiple tabs are dealt with. The last tab should alway be accessible without having to scroll over.

The 'add new tab' button was visible when I first updated, now it's not (?)

How to you get to the configuration file now? Didn't it used to be about: ?

It's always been about:config
