From technology to politics to video games; these are the random thoughts of a geek with too much time on his hands
Hundreds of wallpapers have been submitted to the 2006 GUI Championships.  Many hours have been spent by artists crafting their masterpieces in an attempt to get their hands on a chunk of our $12,000 prize, and now we are ready to kick off the first event of this years competition!

Most Usable Wallpaper

Wallpapers provide the visual backdrop to our day-to-day computer user.  For some, they're family photos, interesting artwork, screenshots from favorite video games or movies etc.  Often, a good wallpaper is judged by how good it looks versus little it interferes with finding icons on the desktop, and other usability concerns.  This first event focuses on wallpapers which have the best "coolness" to usability ratio.

So everyone, put those HCI hats on, clear up your critical eye and have at this years batch of wallpaper submissions from some of the most talented wallpaper artists the skinning community has to offer!

Each event has three stages: Submissions, User Voting, Judge Voting

We are now entering the User Voting stage for Most Usable Wallpaper.  Thursday we'll close voting for Most Usable and begin voting for Most Original Wallpaper, so be sure to get your votes in soon!

Go to the GUI Champs website and click on the Vote Now link on the left.

Been there - done that. Glad I kept a list of all the walls . When you vote they are listed only by title - not title and artist.

A bit late for making suggestions, I know. But I think it would have been fairer to present the wallpapers to potential voters in a random order. Multiple columns of thumbs could also have reduced the need to view quite so many pages.
