From technology to politics to video games; these are the random thoughts of a geek with too much time on his hands
When the GUI Champs '06 were announced late this past August, we made mention of some premium sponsors that would be handing out some of our top competition prizes.  Much was made about how these were some sweet prizes and definitely worth competing for.  We've already announced NVIDIA/EVGA sponsoring the prizes for the Most Original Visual Style and Most Original Icon Set, so that only leaves one prize, and thus one more premium sponsor to reveal.

We are extremely happy to announce that our final sponsor for the 2006 GUI Championships is...

That's right!  Alienware!  Our friends at Alienware have been extremely generous and are providing our top competition prize this year, a nicely loaded Alienware Area-51 m5750 Multimedia Entertainment Laptop!  This is by far, the coolest prize we've ever given away for the competition!  We approached Alienware to sponsor the competition because of their position as a leader in the high-performance desktop, notebook, media center and professional systems market.  Who better to sponsor a competition all about creative professionals and cutting-edge User Interface design?

Now, I could yammer on and on about how darn cool it is that Alienware is handing out a sweet laptop to the top-placing competitor, but I figure I can let the facts speak for themselves.  Head over to the GUI Champs '06 website right now to take a look at the specs on this beast of a box!

The GUI Champs 2006 is supported in part by our Premier Sponsors; Alienware and NVIDIA/EVGAAlienware is the exclusive PC vendor sponsor of the competition, providing industry-leading technology to both gamers and creative professionals.  NVIDIA/EVGA are our exclusive graphics card sponsors, continuing their ongoing support for skinning and the skinning community.
HELP SPREAD THE WORD! We've got a story about this posted on Digg, and we'd really appreciate it if you'd head on over there and "Digg" it for us to raise awareness of this absolutely kick-ass prize!  Just head on over to the story on Digg by going here:

Holy C**p!

That is an awsome prize.

I signed up and will digg it when I get home.

Perhaps extending the deadlines would help bring more art to the table. I know the University of Washington just started classes here in Seattle, so perhaps the lack of more entries is due to the timing?
