From technology to politics to video games; these are the random thoughts of a geek with too much time on his hands
Gee, welcome to the '90s Apple
Published on December 1, 2006 By Zoomba In WinCustomize News

Uusally around here, we talk about changing the look of your PC by changing through software like WindowBlinds.  One thing we rarely talk about because, well this is a Windows site, is skinning on the Macintosh.  ShapeShifter, a theming product from Mac software developer Unsanity cleared beta on its latest version, 2.4.  Usanity is one of several skinning applications available for Mac users.

While not yet as powerful WindowBlinds, it is a solid start for Mac users who are getting tired of the same old look.  If you've got a Mac that you want to spice up, head over to Unsanity and check it out now.

Note: this article was rewritten because the first story, which was written tongue-in-cheek, was taken far too seriously.

I think the statement "That's not a knife....THIS is a knife....." describes the difference between Shapeshifter and Windowblinds. And for all the calls of " Mac have been skinning for years" not on an Intel system with Rosetta so yes this is a resonably new system.
Why are Mac users so touchy ? oh no wait its all the extra money they pay for core 2 duo machines compared to PCs LOL
I mean come on mac users keep living by the WWSJD (what would Steve Jobs do ?) He'd just turn down his turtle neck set Disney's lawers on Stardock and get on with his life

It seems very strange that if its a joke about a PC then everyone thinks its funny, but then all of a sudden if its about a mac, then everyone gets all wuffy.

We have an abnormally high number of mac zealots at this windows customization site..

I still can't decide which out of those ten million generic exactly the same looking Mac themes I should use. The greyish blue one, the blueish grey one, or the metallic blueish grey one?
on Dec 02, 2006
Go with the grayish blue one... you dont wanna stand out!

"You call that a Mac?!...Now THIS is a Mac!!"

Confused about the squiggly thing in front of the prices...

MHO! Macintosh is not what everyone think it is cracked up to be. I have heard of SOOOO many people having BSOD with them too just like PC's. I will not fork as much money as they are expecting for Mac's when they are not much that better.

"That's not a knife....THIS is a knife....."..

As I recall it: "Call that a knife? Now THAT's a KNIFE!!"

I still can't decide which out of those ten million generic exactly the same looking Mac themes I should use. The greyish blue one, the blueish grey one, or the metallic blueish grey one?

Decisions, decisions! Well if you really can't make up your mind on which one of those generic 'all the same but different shade' themes to use, just hack one to include a bit of pink, orange or purple....heck, maybe even some XP Luna Blue!

For all the talk of generic Mac themes, it's a wonder that SOOOOOOOOOOOO many of them are thought to be worthy of porting, all the way back to the Kaleidoscope days....
