From technology to politics to video games; these are the random thoughts of a geek with too much time on his hands

Gartner, IT research firm extraordinaire, is making a few predictions about what technology users will see starting in 2007 and going forward.  A big one is of Vista perhaps being the last major release of Microsoft Windows.  According to a CNet news article, they're thinking that Vista represents the end of the monolithic operating system era as the world moves more towards a flexible update model.

In addition to chatting about Vista, they predict that:

  • Blogging will hit its peak in 2007.
  • Software as a Service to become a viable model
  • Changes in IT outsourcing efforts

I guess someone should tell Microsoft not to bother with Windows Vienna. Which is a pitty since it would have had all of the features that got cut from Vista!!!
