Welcome to 2007 WinCustomize regulars! With the new year comes a new
poll, this one focused towards increasing community involvement in how the site
operates.
Before I get into the new poll however, lets recap our last poll of 2006: How
Old Are You?
Every now and then we like to get an idea of the audience we serve here at
WinCustomize. Through stat tracking, we have plenty of data on what
browser and OS our visitors use, most popular pages visited etc. What we
don't have ready access to is more personal information that might help us craft
better content for the site. Our last poll was targeted at the age of our
user base.
A total of 501 of you responded, and here is the breakdown:
Question: How Old Are You? |

7.58% |
18 - 22 |

9.58% |
23 - 30 |

21.56% |
51- 60 |
86 |
17.16% |
60+ |

4.59% |
Based on those numbers, the lion-share of our user base is considerably more
mature than what you'll find on most sites, sitting between the ages of 23 and
50, with the folks in their 30s being the largest percentage of the user
population. While interesting, it's not surprising considering so many of
you have been with us since the early days of skinning and OS customization.
With that poll concluded, it's time to move on to our first poll for 2007:
Are you interested in writing articles for WinCustomize?
In the past I've asked informally if people were interested in contributing
to WinCustomize in a way beyond submissions to the libraries. In 2007,
we're going to be making it a larger effort to reinvigorate the community, make
it possible for individual users to feel more "ownership" in the site and help
determine the direction it takes in the future. It turns out that one of
the most important ways you can be involved, is also the easiest; writing
articles.
So our latest poll is an attempt to get a feel for the level of interest
there might be in lining up members of the community to contribute regular
articles to WinCustomize.
Now, get moving and vote!
