From technology to politics to video games; these are the random thoughts of a geek with too much time on his hands

IGN's Steve Butts takes a look at a recent build of Galactic Civilizations II: Dark Avatar and posts his impressions of the upcoming expansion to one of the top strategy games of 2006.  The preview takes  a look at features such as the new races in the expansion (Korath Clan and Krynn Consulate), the new espionage system, and the new additions to the star map.

If you aren't in the beta, of particular interest is how with Dark Avatar you can not only create your own custom race to play yourself, you can now create custom enemies to populate the galaxy with.  This preview really hits all the high points of the game and is definitely worth checking out.

Not a bad little article, not much opinion, just facts... Let the good press begin!

So. I won't be upset if the answer is "no," but does this mean that the epic-generator has stayed?

Unfortunately the EG was dropped, but the devs have commented that they'd like to revisit it at some point due to the large amount of effort that went into it.

Lol, considering IGN talks about the epic generator as if it was in the game, I wonder what else they just took from one of your earlier press releases and copied into the review. Did they even play it themselves? Not very trustworthy, I'd say.

Not that I care, I already preordered.

Y'know, you can so totally tell that the journalist actually *wants* this game.
