Tutorials, Vista sucks, and Software for your PC

It's been a busy few days in terms of quality articles being written by the community.  Here are a few of the top articles I think everyone should take a look at:

  1. Learning DX Step-By-Step #8 - Tool-tip Replacement
RomanDA continues the DesktopX Tutorial series this week with installment #8; how to do tool-tip replacement in your gadgets.  One of the greatest criticisms of our products is the lack of good documentation and tutorials.  Well, RomanDA is stepping up to fill that gap in the DesktopX arena by writing up some outstanding tutorials.  The series takes you from novice to guru-in-training, starting with just learning how to make a basic gadget and moving on through the more complex and arcane features and functions you can pack into a gadget with DX.

  2. Windows Vista: Not Worth the $$$
Gideon MacLeish, a user from the JoeUser side of the Stardock Universe has an opinion piece up about his feelings regarding Windows Vista.  Sparked by the claim that Vista would be more accurately called "WinME 2", Gideon felt the need to take on that assertion, and while he agrees that the value of Vista is comparable to WinME, it's not nearly the technical disaster ME was.  The contention is that Vista just doesn't have enough "oomph" to justify the switch.

  3. Home Office Software Essentials - Pt. 2
IslandDog is at it again with part two of his Home Office Software Essentials article series.  The first part focused on office productivity tools, security and backup programs, part 2 goes after graphics and utility programs.  Up for evaluation are apps like Photoshop, CorelDraw, Multiplicity, Nero7 and ObjectDock just to name a few.
