From technology to politics to video games; these are the random thoughts of a geek with too much time on his hands
Ah consolidation!

Just a few weeks ago, popular social networking site MySpace blocked all videos hosted by digital media storehouse Photobucket.  Evidently the vast majority of all of Photobucket's traffic comes through in the form of MySpace referrals, though neither company will comment on the matter.  With this recent bout of fighting between the two companies, the last thing anyone expected was a merger.  Well, that's what just happened.  News Corp, the parent company of MySpace, shelled out the cash to pick up Photobucket, though it's unclear whether or not they met the $300 million asking price.

The news is of particular interest to other services that piggy-back on the success of sites like MySpace.  If you make something cool enough that relies on MySpace, will News Corp buy you?

I assume you would rather the function extend directly into the forums...

Well that was the general idea - being that I didn't have a personal site prior to 5 mins ago (never saw a need for one before) and need to investigate further - but if images can be added directly to forums from photo albums then I'd be more than happy with that.

....so now I'm gonna bugger off to check it out.

a one click access to something like http://xs.to/ incorprorated on site would indeed be a nice feature for subscribers.
