From technology to politics to video games; these are the random thoughts of a geek with too much time on his hands

Google does a lot of really nifty stuff, from searching websites, to maps, to telephone directories and more.  However, there are a lot of nifty little featured buried deep in the search engine that you might not know about.  These little tricks help make Google a quick and easy go-to tool for any number of tasks.  Lifehack.org has an article up detailing just a few of these little-known secrets.

A few examples:

  • Google Search as a Calculator
  • Take notes on websites with Google Notebook
  • Translate foreign sites

One not covered, but a personal favorite of mine is the ability to paste the tracking number for a package into the search engine (any courier service that has online tracking works).  It will give you a direct link to the appropriate tracking site to display your current package status.  I use this all the time when I have items shipped to me.
