Get that PC for an even better price.

The time has come, your trusty workhorse of a PC has reached the end of its life and now you have to scramble to purchase a new system before the old one completely gives up the ghost.  You consider yourself a savvy PC shopper, able to spot the lame ploys salespeople attempt to get you to buy something you don't want or need.  You even comparison shop, going to websites, pulling store flyers out of the newspaper, and scouting out the local shops in person.  Well, here's another tool in your bargain-hunting arsenal:  22 tips on getting the best deal from Dell, as written by a former Dell Sales Manager.

The Consumerist is running the 22-point tip sheet that covers everything from when the best deals are run, how to milk a Dell Kiosk sales rep for as much as you can, and to avoid the Dell Financing Program if at all possible (low limits, astronomical interest rates).  For an added bit of drama, Dell demanded the article be taken down, and when The Consumerist refused and the media caught wind of it, Dell quickly backed off the position.

So, if you're looking for some good bargain tips for Dell, click the link below.

Thanks Zoomba!
Unfortunately, I'm in the UK, and I just bought my laptop on thursday last!
But I still got a better price than I could find anywhere else for the spec I got!

Cheers for the heads up though!

I just bought an HP from HP. Custom build. I just went to the Dell website and built a machine compatible with mine and I saved $641 and I got a bigger HD (400gb) and a 512mb ATI vid card. This is the third HP machine including a Laptop, I haven't had problems with any of them. The only thing I can complain about is a week after I recieved it HP introduced the Quad Core but I'm happy with it.

Vista Ultamate Media Center w/ TV tuner and FM Tuner
Intel Duo Core 6600 2.40GHz
4 Gigs ram
512mb ATI Readon Vid card
400 gig hd
2 DVD drives 1 is RW dual layer w/ LightScribe
Windows Experience of 5.2

Dell's "Outlet" site is a great place to save a lot for a new "scratch and dent" or "previously ordered" or basically new "refurbished" computer.

My last 3 computers, plus one for my sister and a friend, have all been from Dell Outlet.
They have a lot of stock there, and if you monitor the site frequently for a while, you can find an excellent deal. Free shipping within a week, and I have never had a hardware problem with any of them.

The savings is usually at least $300 or more over new, and as far as I can see, even the so called "refurbished" ones look new. Hell, the last one I got for a friend was a "scratch and dent" at an excellent price and I couldn't find a scratch or dent anywhere.

Just something to keep in mind if you're looking.
