Look at the pretty ripples....

Yesterday we released our 6th premium DeskScapes Dream (and 3rd dynamic one) on WinCustomize; Liquid Dream.  It's a great animated desktop that turns your desktop background into a rippling pool of water with tons of options to tweak and play with to get just the sort of effect you want.  It's one of my favorite Dreams released so far as it's very subtle, looks really good, and doesn't hog my system resources.  Here's a quick description of Liquid Dream:

Water drops fall on your desktop, creating realistic ripples that spread across your screen. Using the DeskScapes engine to render the water and motion in real-time, this Dream looks great without using up valuable resources.

Liquid Dream is highly customizable to suit your preferences. You have the ability to decide:

  • Time between water drops
  • Size of water drops (bigger drops mean larger ripples)
  • How reflective/transparent the water surface is
  • Choose a sky to see reflected in the water (fluffy white clouds, or a starry night sky)
  • Choose the background image that sits below the water. Pick from one of 3 provided images, or supply your own.

Liquid Dream is a Dynamic DeskScapes animated desktop developed internally by Stardock Design.  It requires Windows Vista Ultimate with the DreamScene extra installed, and the latest version of Stardock DeskScapes

Liquid Dream is available for $9.95 via the WinCustomize store, but WinCustomize Subscribers get a 20% discount!  Click the link below to see both an image and video preview, and of course, to purchase!

I have to say, this is about the coolest thing I've ever seen on a desktop. No preview or video clip can do it justice. And I've seen a lot of cool stuff. It's amazing.

I purchased it. But everytime I try to activate it activate.exe crashes. (Code 255)? Bummer...Stardock support is closed for the weekend  Anyone have any ideas? I can't wait to try it!

I purchased this, had no problems with activation and just love it. Very realistic effect, very calming. Thanks, Stardock.

Bought it, running it and love it!!!

Toejo, might your firewall or something else be preventing activate.exe from getting to the internet?

UAC will stop it from activating.

Thanks for the suggestions. Nakor...it's not a firewall. The program just crashes in the middle of activation. Hippie...I have UAC turned off. Are you suggesting I turn it back on? I'm really looking forward to seeing it. It's kinda like a small little christmas present I've been waiting to open.

ToeJo, could you please email a screenshot of this crash dialog to kwilas@stardock.com? We're still at a loss as to what it might be.

Sure Kris. I'll send it right away.

Absolutely fantastic! Best Dream, by far. It'll be on my desktop for a long time.

I like the idea of mouse activity or dragged windows disturbing the water

Ever consider having the option for DreamScenes/DeskScapes to be the screensaver of choice? The picture gallery and this liquid dream are perfect examples where one might like to have the dream carry over into a screensaver.

Also, would it even be possible to integrate a dream into the logon screen? Having rippling water on the logon screen would definitely be cool

Just some ideas, although I love it as it stands!

If this could be used for the Login screen, i'd buy it.
