From technology to politics to video games; these are the random thoughts of a geek with too much time on his hands
So painful to watch

Since the iPhone came out a week and a half ago, all sorts of review sits have been putting the device through its paces, trying to find its limits.  Most notably, many sites have done their hardest to actually destroy the phone, to see how well it will stand up to the average clumsy user.  PC World tossed it around, tried gashing it with keys etc.  Ars Technica dropped it off a 3 story building and dumped it into a toilet.  They cover the most common potential mishaps your phone could encounter.  However, they overlook one major catastrophe: a blender.

The popular Internet video series "Will it Blend?" set out to discover exactly the results of placing a $600 telephone in a high-powered blender.  The results?  Well, you'll just have to check the video to find out.

Not nearly as stupid as paying 5 or 6 hundred dollars for a freakin' PHONE, for crying out loud!

Yeah, I hear what you're saying...I almost went ballistic when the missus was considering spending over AU$200 on a mobile phone....I found a prepaid Nokia (no contracts etc) for $140 that does all she'll ever need it to do. In fact, it has a 2gig MP3 player built in as well as....so the $299 one (which didn't) remains in the store.

.until I deliberately dropped it from an 8-storey building, to test the theory.

Ahhh, so it was you who.....I wondered where the heck that came from....and I guess you heard the cussafrassacassamassacassing from inside the eighth floor stairwell.

Ya know, all these years later I'm still getting...at the third stroke (must've dialed it on impact)....really annoying every hour on the hour...especially in the middle of the night when I'm trying to sleep.
