From technology to politics to video games; these are the random thoughts of a geek with too much time on his hands
Better living through destruction
Published on July 18, 2007 By Zoomba In WinCustomize News

We've all had those days where our PC is just being maddeningly problematic.  Blue screens for no reason, word processors crashing taking hours of work with them, the list of frustrations goes on and on.  And when these things happen, I'm sure the temptation has been to take a hammer to the tower, or just shove the whole thing in the trash bin and be done with it, but I doubt anyone here has gone quite as far as a frustrated fellow in Germany did this weekend.

A man in Berlin, Germany reached the end of his rope with his PC, and in a fit of frustration and rage, chucked the computer out the window in the middle of the night, waking neighbors who called the police.

When the police arrived and talked to the man, they sympathized and let him off without a fine or warning.  All he had to do was clean up the debris on the street below.

ANY, Mac or IBM PC, is only as capable and smart as its owner. I had a few if any problems with Vista Beta (as a development PC) - surely Vista RTM is better. Bashing on Vista is getting old; Vista is not the only player in this large industry. I refuse to play Apple's hypocritical game. Does not surprise me this is coming from Endgadget.

Which is why serious consideration has been given to mandatory licensing for problematic PC users, such as yourself....and just like with a driver's license, proper lessons and driving tests would be compulsory prior to being allowed to operate a computer unsupervised.

well that's German

In France most of us know that it's the user the most problematic so in general it's the computer who chucked the user out the window

If I had a dollar every time I wanted to throw my computer out the window, I would be rich!

If I had a dollar every time I wanted to throw my computer out the window.....

Seems like a common affliction. . I've never felt like throwing my puter out the window, however....I'll swear; cuss; scream blue murder; stomp my feet; cuss and swear some more; pull my hair out and throw a massive tantrum to let off major steam, but not once have I ever felt like pitching out the window. I've invested major spondula (bucks) in this rig and I'd be at great pains to replace it....besides, couldn't hurl it out the window even if I wanted to, being we're at ground level and have security bars on all the windows.
