Last year there was a brief attempt at featuring one skinner every month with a brief interview and a mini-tutorial written by the featured community member. In theory this was a great idea, and the community seemed to genuinely enjoy it. In practice it was more difficult than I originally anticipated. Instead of completely abandoning the idea, since I very much like being able to spotlight great members of the community, the feature is moving to a quarterly basis, basically following the seasons.
With summer fully upon us, I'm going to kick off the revived feature with our Summer Featured Skinner: vStyler.
Many of you are very familiar with his work on msstyles and more recently WindowBlinds. He's even gone to the effort of bringing together a number of other skinners in the community to form MaxStyles, a new skinning studio. Together they're working very hard on some great new suites that you've seen bits and pieces of in the Knot series of elements posted on WinCustomize in the last several months.
Recently made a master, vStyler has been a part of the community for quite a while, participating and taking a prize in last year's GUI Championships, and trying his best to help out on the forums whenever possible.
Like with the previous "Monthly" feature, I took a little bit of time to sit down with vStyler and ask a few questions about skinning, his history in the community and a bit about MaxStyles. Click the link below to read.
