From technology to politics to video games; these are the random thoughts of a geek with too much time on his hands

Poll time again folks!  Previously, I asked everyone what their favorite skinning application was, giving a range of choices from WindowBlinds to ObjectBar (and the ever-popular "Other").  Well, after 2 weeks of voting, the results are in, and the winner by a huge margin is WindowBlinds.  I mean, it wasn't even close.  The next closest app in terms of votes received was ObjectDock which didn't even get a quarter of the votes WindowBlinds did.  Even "Other" which could have covered anything from CursorXP, to hacked msstyles barely registered on the list.

As always... a pretty picture to show the results.

This week, we're looking to get an idea of what everyone feels about the Personal Page portion of WinCustomize.  Every user at WinCustomize has the option to create a Personal Page on the site.  On the Personal Page you can showcase your own work, display your favorite work by other users, show off your written articles, and more.  We think it's a key feature to the site and want to know if you agree.  Click the link below to cast your vote.  If you have anything specific you think would turn the Personal Pages into a real killer feature for the site, leave them in the comments to this story.

Very interesting, the first four programs, atleast from a user and non-skinner like myself, do seem the easiest to use when customizing your desktop. I wonder if that was a factor in this?

I use the personal pages when I'm reading posts and the replies in the forums to give me somewhat of a picture of the person. I kind of get the impression we all do that. It might not be right, but I want to see if the person just became a member today or has been around for years. It tells me want kind of experince they may have in using the software.

WindowBlinds! I hate it make real VisualStyles or buy Vista.
And DesktopX: I never found a good functional app just the weather is useable more or less - I use the weather in my Firefox.

Sry but this is my opinion

Define "real" Visual Styles. Windowblinds does *really* skin the windows and without hacking or replacing any system files, plus it does a more thorough job at skinning that the hacked msstyles could never do.

yes it skins!!! a msstyles replace, there are no other images/windows behind. i think if want the trans and the lumi, i take vista and mod the mssytle - MY OPINION!!!

WB is good but not my thing... I use VisualStyles and Styler

Me too! I'm always disappointed when ppl don't have any content there.

I'd like the option to skin my PP, change color scheme, layout etc. That would also give people a better picture of the person.... make it more personal. Maybe something to add to the next WC update?

yes. It would be nice if we could truly personalize it as mentioned. I rarely use them. Color scheme options and such would be nice. The ability to 'skin' it would be nicer. What would really be nice is a blog/journal section.

Yeah I made a thread suggesting that some time back.

What would be really nice, is if I could update my personal page photo album...without it crashing IE7. Also, not sure how to fix the broken preview thumbnails for my (very) old objectdock icons.

Kinda figured WB would be the most popular. A little surprised everything else is so low.

I like the personal pages. The ability to personalize them would be nice. Also a link to send a PM along side the Email link.
