From technology to politics to video games; these are the random thoughts of a geek with too much time on his hands
Which do you prefer?

Monday.  The end of one thing (weekend) but the start of something else (the work week).  To kick things off we're back with the weekly poll.  Last week we asked you which holiday was your favorite to create skins for.  We listed off typical holidays such as Christmas or Halloween, but threw in some lesser-represented ones like Easter or St. Patrick's Day.  The results weren't even close though with Christmas running away with 66% of the vote, with only Halloween coming close with a meager 25%.  The rest filled up the chart with a few percent here and there.  Based on this, I'm looking forward to some great Christmas skins this year.

As always, here's the pretty picture.

This week we're taking another look at the content we provide the community through the WinCustomize frontpage.  For the most part over the last year it's been odd and off-beat technology news from around the web.  Sometimes it's related to skinning, other times not.  Over the last few days you've probably noticed a shift in the front page content back towards stories focused on WinCustomize, the community and skinning in general.  As we run this experiment of sorts, we'd like to know what you think.  Do you prefer the skinning news over the tech news?  Should it be 100% one way or another?  Some other % mix?  What would be your ideal balance of tech versus skinning news here on the front page?  Let us know by voting in the poll, and posting a comment below.

Results, as usual, to come next Monday.

Always nice to have a little variety but I'l bet "skinning all the way" will win this in a landslide.

Like the new pie charts too

Well I voted for 75% Skinning News and 25% Tech News for the little variety that vStyler talked about.

3D pie charts always look better.

Office 2007 does much better charts than 2003

75/25 in favor of skinning. I do enjoy the bits of tech news we get (even though I'm not much of a techie). It provides something different.

75/25 skinning. A few extra tech articles here and there wouldn't be bad particularly if they are about customization, not just of the windows UI, but all sorts of tech things.

I wish that there was more skinning news to write about. That was more the case years ago when there were more skinnable apps and sites.

I like a mix of tech and skinning.  It's nice when they are one and the same.

75% skinning, 25% Tech News.

Although I might have misclicked...

meh, this site needs news, and I really can't see a whole lot of skinning news of interest being posted. with skinning for wb all but dead, its one of the few reasons I still click the site regularly, for the some-what quirky news I don't usually catch on other sites that is.

No news is good news...

I agree with Fuzzy Logic. I had to pick the last choice, "News - we have news" as there was no "Other" choice. I vote for Stardock news only... and only once/week or so, when there is news to be had! There are already plenty of other sites out there with news. Please keep this a Stardock/skinning site!

Please keep this a Stardock/skinning site!

It actually sounds like you're talking about "Skinning news all the way!"

Daily content updates to the front page aren't going away as they help promote content on the site and give people a reason to check back every day.  The issue is about what sort of news to focus on.

A bit of this & that makes Wincustomize intresting

I do really enjoy the new articles on skinners & skins. Please continue that. This allows both new users & old timers to to learn a bit more about who makes these skins & find some they may have missed. More info on the people that both moderate & work at Stardock & Wincustomize also creates more of community feeling. To lessen your workload a questionare could be sent out to skinners, staff & mods and then posted on the site.
