From technology to politics to video games; these are the random thoughts of a geek with too much time on his hands

Last week, Stardock released WindowBlinds 6.  In addition, there's the impending release of SkinStudio 6.  So there are a lot of changes happening in the world of Windows skinning.  WindowBlinds and Windows Vista are opening doors to new skinning possibilities.  In fact, we have skinners now specifically targeting the new capabilities of WindowBlinds 6 and Windows Vista when creating skins.  Unfortunately, until now there wasn't an easy way to find those skins.

Skinners who have uploaded WindowBlinds skins in the last week or so probably noticed that there are some new options at the bottom of the upload form:

Checking the 'WindowBlinds 6 only' or 'Vista Skin' options results in one or both of the following badges being added to a skin's detailed view:

Which is all well and good if you're clicking on each skin individually, but what if you want to quickly find all skins that have WindowBlinds 6, or Windows Vista features (or both)?  Today, we've added a new filter to the WindowBlinds gallery so you can do just that.  You can filter by WindowBlinds 6 Ready or Windows Vista Ready (or both).  To make things even easier, we've added the filter links to the top of all WindowBlinds pages:

We hope this makes it easier for everyone to find exactly what they're looking for in the WindowBlinds gallery.

Sweet! I love to show off WindowBlinds and now I can find skins that show off the latest features! Thanks Stardock!

Excellent! How do you remove the filter(s) once applied?

Just click on "WindowBlinds" in the description box.

I'm adding a "remove filter" link, it'll show up in about 5-10min

This is off topic, but will there be a filter for "Vista Ready" Iconpacks, also?

on the old days here at Wincustomize we did have the option to make something like a filter on each gallery..., why this you took it away? with that option i could find many skins in a easier way....

please bring that option back but in all galleries.

Well not to suggest copying other sites, but one thing I would love is the ability to search by color. I know it sounds kind of dorky, but when you find a great icon-set that someone has created, I'd love to be able to find matching wallpapers and windowblinds. I know many authors put something to the effect of "looks great with ..." but it might be nice to be able to search for a new WB6 skin, designed in orange for example.
I know that you can color many skins, and I know that it would require (or maybe just encourage) authors to label their skin colors, and that it would require some programming of the back-end for Stardock, but since features were being suggested, I just thought I'd chip in my nickel.

Is it at all possible to make the Icons a little bigger ... ? PRETTY PLEASE ?

As an 'old boy' my eyes are definitely not as good as they were .. and even with my specs on they look sort of blurred ...Especially the wording ..

I am sure a lot of other short sighted people might feel the same ...

I tag all my work with the primary color.  Click on a tag of a skin you like and see what you get. For example if you are on my skin ZuSkin Blueprint and select the tag you see Blue.  Click on blue and you get this.

Just wish the search would actually work like that, enter in a search term (skinner name, skin name, color [tag], etc) and everything that matches those terms will show up (think that's how it works on dA).
