1998 - 1999

Sure WindowBlinds 6 is the coolest thing since sliced bread, we all know that.  But how does it compare to skins of days long past?  How do skins today stack up against the first WB skins from waaay back in the 1990s?  Well, I was curious and decided to dig into the earliest parts of the WindowBlinds galleries where we have skins back from before the site actually existed (archived from other sites now gone).  It's amazing to see how far we've come now in just under a decade.

Hit the link below to read Part 1 of the series, which covers 1998 & 1999.  Part 2 will look at skins from 2000 - 2003 (WindowBlinds 2 - WindowBlinds 4) and should be up later this week.

EDIT: All it does is skin the border of the windows, menu's stay as they are,the resize buttons etc are placed kinda like a all in one imac, well thats enough retro for a few minutes back to halloween theme.

lol oh man...I remember wanting to skin Win95 from its earliest, ugly incarnation and eventually trying WindowBlinds back then. It's come a long way, and having followed Stardock from its earliest days, I trust and support them more than any other company because they've always been straight-shooters with the community.

there is no other Corporate entity iv ever dealt with that was as straight forward and upstanding as Stardock. and i'l see them in to the next millennium .

I've been running Heavy Equipment WB thru WB5.51 with no problems on my 1280 X 1024. Tried to run HE last night and it wouldn't let me apply a desktop...defaulted to grey.

I've run the HE DXTheme but it takes some juggling in DX Builder to set it up...and it doesn't always reboot to memory, but back to default 1024 X 768.

One can hope.
