From technology to politics to video games; these are the random thoughts of a geek with too much time on his hands
Published on October 25, 2007 By Zoomba In WinCustomize News

All week we've been hearing and watching news reports of the wildfires ravaging southern California, with firefighters struggling to contain it.  We also know that there are many here in the WinCustomize community that either live in the area, or have friends and family who do.  On behalf of the staff here at WinCustomize/Stardock, I hope that everyone stays safe and that your homes are spared.

For all of those affected, please drop a line on this thread to keep us up to date on your status, and to let us know you're OK.

Thanks for thinking of us! I live in Orange County and the Santiago Canyon fire was closest to me, but that one is pretty much contained, so i'm not too worried. I do know a few people down in San Diego that have been evacuated to the stadium. If anything comes up, i'll be sure to let you all know.

I think this is a sign that God, either him or the evil intergelactic lord Xenu, don't want people living in california.

Edit: I only say this because california is on fire like every other fortnight.

We in Oz are doubly concerned...both for the Cali's caught up in the fires....and that Elvis might not be free to help us in a few weeks/months time as well.....

[Elvis is a Skycrane water-bomber Chopper that we lease each year.  Last time it returned to the US the tanks weren't entirely empty.....grateful Winegrowers had provided some red for the crew]...

Thanks Zoomba, I'm right below the Grass Valley/Slide fires. So far we're safe since the fires are contained up in the mountains. Updated info can be found here, at least for the fires in San Bernardino County.

Hope everyone is o.k. and all your homes and families are safe and happy. Been thru lots of fires and quakes, myself. Here we just have @#!*#@! winter.

Great posting Zoomba.  I'm glad to hear you guys are safe.  Hopefully they will get the fires contained.  Do they have any military resources helping?  My husband had to fight the wild fires in Idaho when he was in the Army since they didn't have enough Firefighters to do the job.

Meanwhile, a friend of mine's father did lose his ranch, thankfully his horses had been rescued at the time evacuation was "required".  He now has 10 horses in his back yard... that's a sight I would LOVE to see!!  LOL!

Hopefully the fires will be contained soon, sparing the homes and lives of those that remain. Good luck to you all, stay safe.

I hear Police shot and killed one arsonist.....

I call that a good start.

Anyone who knows bushfires and firestorms would likely agree.....
