From technology to politics to video games; these are the random thoughts of a geek with too much time on his hands

With December come and gone, I polled the WinCustomize moderation team for their absolute favorite submissions from December 2007.  Here are their picks and a little bit of explanation on why they were chosen.

Revolve Clock by Tiggz

"For these picks I usually look for the outstanding works from newer artists, but this widget was too cool for school.
It's interesting that even after so long, clocks like this one and RomaDA's Slider clock can still do things just a bit differently and show the rest of us that there are limits to be pushed with even the simplest of widgets.

Welcome back Tiggz!" - Zubaz
Alessi by BoXXi

"It has a wonderful animation, is unobtrusive, and works really well. The effort he put into tweaking/working with the animation really shows. It's really smooth.

There's some really great skins being made for Xion, and this one's up there with the best." - Erk.

"It's modern, understated & stylish..." - Jafo

Logitech by CrazyWillis5.0

"Being a Logitech 'nutt', I just had to pick this one" - Snowman

Dreamfalls by muckyman

"He seems to have a grip on doing waterfalls.  They run smooth.  When you're frustrated with some program, just close it and watch the waterfalls, and you will calm down" - WOM
Alpha 1 by mrSkope

"mrSkope has been producing high quality icons for a while now and Alpha 1 is no exception.  One thing I like to see in icons is lots of crisp, clean detail and Alpha 1 is about as good as you'll see in this respect" - Fuzzy Logic
World Clock by Tiggz

"Another wonderful clock by Tiggz.  Really well coded and designed, and really useful when you have to talk with people all around the world" - Quentin94

WTM by lypnjtu

"Yes, I'm a sucker for nice glasswork and bright glows, but I have to say that I used this skin for several days and found it usable and polished.  If you're into the whole Aero-glass-shiny-bits style of WindowBlinds themes, check this one out!"  - CerebroJD

These are good picks but there is one issue and that is concerning the WTM skin. There is an issue with it: the extra glass border around the start menu. This is a great skin except for that. I can't understand you guys. WC is usually very picky about this sort of thing. Yes it can be fixed but there are a lot of people who can't fix it for a number of reasons.

Zoomba, can you please explain this reasoning? Thanks.

Chasbo . . these are moderator picks for what we like . . they don't have to be perfect, they don't have to be everyone's favorite, they jsut have to appeal to the Mod that picked it.

I tried WTM out because of CerebroJD's reccomendataion and loved it.  Any flaws were not noticable enough to bug me.

To each their own, right?

Chasbo

I asked the moderators to pick out their personal favorites and explain why they picked them.  This feature is 100% subjective.  I wasnt looking for a selection of technically perfect skins (most skins aren't, they almost all have one or two odd bits to them), just ones that appealed to the tastes of the moderators.

Some great picks. Seeing Tiggz around again is great and he has been missed. Judging by these skins of his that you show on this thread and his recent wall I would say his talent has reached new levels which are astounding. Bryan's Alessi skin is real class too.

Expressing personal taste is something WC'ers take for granted. It's not something we mods get to do very often
