Great stuff Jorge. Getting better all the time.

I believe I've looked at this program every time there is a post in the forums about it. It looks very good, very professional and clean in design.

My problem is I haven't learn to use all the Stardock customization programs yet!

Hey, you know what would be nice. Someone, anyone, could do a desktop using both Stardock programs and Winstep and give the community here a look at how things can work together.

Yeah, that's a plan. Now who is going to do that, they would have to have Winstep, leaves me out. Let me think.

Its a shame that , although it's compatable with Object Desktop ~ that its' a bit expensive for me ... still paying for Christmas , dammit !!

Will the new version run on xp32bit?
on Feb 21, 2008
Hey, I'm a sucker for backwards compatibility.  Winstep Xtreme runs basically on all Windows versions - yes, it's one of the very few that still actually runs on Win9x!

So, it runs on Win95, Win98, Win98 SE, Win ME, Win 2000, XP 32bit, XP 64bit, 2003 Server, Vista 32bit and the new release possibly on Vista 64bit as well, although the later hasn't been tested yet.

Ah, and Winstep Xtreme is still able to run themes created way back in 1999, when Winstep Software Technologies was born.

I tried this program a long long time ago. It was ok then but not something I was really willing to spend $40 on. Today, I downloaded it again and I've gotta say...IT"S AWESOME. I really like it. The only flaw I can see is how it takes my machine so much longer to finish it's boot. The changes I see from then to now are not so much cosmetic but rather in usability. Cosmetically it has always looked great, but functionally, years ago, it wasn't quite right. I can tell you have put a lot of hard work into it. And I look forward to making a purchase. Keep up the GREAT work. I really appreciate it!

My favorite feature . . how the memory meter shows the app that is using the most memory.

I want that so much in DX and OB . . .and OD+  . . . and everything!

Winstep works with ALL the Stardock stuff. I've put up more than a few screenshots showing that off: WWW Link WWW Link WWW Link WWW Link Winstep works with Rainleander, Xion etc. Winstep costs less than OD and I think it actually does more for what it is. I couldn't afford it when I bought it but I wanted it so I found a way.

The site talks about WinStep as "released" (as in not Beta).

This looks interesting but the readme file says it is a Beta.

I would like to know if the software itself is NOT Beta, please.

TIA

Hi Spagnacious!

No, it's NOT in beta, it's the final release. Unfortunately the Readme.txt file in the zip ended up not being updated for some reason - sorry about that and thanks for pointing this out.
