From technology to politics to video games; these are the random thoughts of a geek with too much time on his hands

Impulse, the successor to Stardock Central, is nearing completion and we've been incredibly eager to get your impressions on our new storefront and digital distribution tool.  Impulse takes the lessons learned over years of developing and using Stardock Central and improves upon the tool in virtually every aspect.

As you can see by the screenshot, and other previews we've given, Impulse is much more user-friendly and attractive than the current version of SDC.

Now though, you don't have to just read about Impulse, you can take a preview build for a spin yourself!  Hit up this thread by Brad detailing the preview and how to download/use the tool.

I can't get past the log-in screen, so for now I'll have to admire it from afar.

A lot of work seems to have gone into this, very nice!

As applications tend to get more and more complicated, when customers see an interface that's extremely easy to use, where one cannot actually get lost in the options.. is quite impressive. Good job.

I downloaded this and initially it worked fine.
I was running the program for a few minutes when a pop-up came by and said an update to Impulse was downloaded and that I need to reboot. So, I did.
Now, when I start Impulse all I get is the window border and no auto-login or capability to log in manually. What gives?

Hm. I had trouble installing updates yesterday. Impulse updated itself and when I tried to update to the latest DesktopX, it downloaded the files, declared that it was installing the update and sat for over an hour. The same thing happened when I tried to update ThemeManager.
