From technology to politics to video games; these are the random thoughts of a geek with too much time on his hands
Duh ;-)

In case you didn't already figure it out, the news stories today were jokes, all meant in good fun.  And on the off-chance there's any confusion left...

  1. We're still WINcustomize.
No Mac or Linux stuff here, no plans for it.  Put down the torches and pitchforks folks
  2. No Apple Dashboard Widgets
There is no plan to add Dashboard widget exporting to DX.  The story and screenshots were 100% fabrication (though Island Dog did make a Dashboard widget version of his Election Countdown DX/sidebar gadget)
  3. No Rickroll Suite
You're safe.  No Rick Astley suites.  We wanted to jump on the rickroll april fools bandwagon there.

Thanks to Hippy for the Rickroll joke, and to Island Dog who put together those great fake DesktopX 4 screenshots and giving me the idea to use his Election Countdown gadget to lend additional authenticity to the joke.  Also thanks to everyone who took the "news" in the spirit it was intended.  I hope most of you got at least a chuckle out of one of the three posts today.

Tomorrow we return you to the safe, boring, serious and 99.9% truthful news you've come to expect from this space.

Great jokes! Too bad I didn't check the site yesterday, so I saw the big "April Fools 2008! " on all the articles before I read them... But really, you can't *port* Object Desktop to Mac and Linux - they're completely different operating systems! Stardock would have to rebuild all their software from the ground up and support each OS separately, as far as I know. That would be quite a burden on Stardock, since they've already got a lot on their hands with a single OS already. Anyways... here's my belated "Happy April 1st."
