From technology to politics to video games; these are the random thoughts of a geek with too much time on his hands

Since 2005, skinning community site Customize.org has hosted the Desktopography project, an annual exhibition of stunning wallpaper art that is simply some of the best wall work I've ever seen.  Participation is by invite-only, but because of this the results are always top-notch.  The idea is that our moods can be heavily influenced by what we see every day, and for many of us we spend our days staring at a computer screen.  While it's hard to get a good nature look to your Windows theme, one aspect that can easily evoke a sense of serenity through art is your desktop background.

So wallpapers in the Desktopography collection try and depict calming, soothing scenes with soft colors and elements from nature.

Check out the 2008 Exhibit and then go digging through the previous years for some great wallpapers

Wow, some pretty amazing walls. Have to agree with you Zoomba, walls are a very important part of the the desktop. This is one site that will need to be added to my favorites.

Thanks very much for posting this.

Holy crap. Some of these are amazing. They put my current collection to shame.

Curse you, Zoomba, for giving me something that makes me want to take my delicious Emmy Rossum wallpaper off.

Oh, it won't last, I'm afraid. Emmy will be back on there, wrapped up in her sheet and with her perfectly curled hair coiffed about her head, in no time.
