Ranting and raving...
Published on July 7, 2008 By Zoomba In WinCustomize News
Today's show is just ID and myself.  In episode 12 we talk largely about the loss of SkinArtistry and the (&%@ hackers who ruined a great site.  We get probably 5 or 6 min of ranting out of that.  The second half of the show we talk about what we look for when picking skins to feature on the front page.  Everything from proper previews, to original and enticing designs.  If you've ever wondered what goes through our minds when we pick a skin, then you definitely want to give this week's show a listen.

WARNING: There is some explicit language in our hacker rant segment.  If you're easily offended fast forward to the 6min mark of the episode.

Your ranting and cursing was pretty mild compared to what I said when I found out about Skinartistry. Thanks for the skincast.   It was interesting to hear your opinions on what you look for in a skin for featuring.

Another great podcast guys!

It could have been a lot harsher, that's for sure... but I had to tone it down a bit

I very well enjoyed this one! I would rather hope for SA to return even if someone has to take the helm and purchase the domain from Tom to restart the website. As for those hackers!? Well they know why they did what they did. I hope they would back off with the next opening of the site. I feel that not all hackers are bad. Just those that abuse others stuff without their knowledge or permission.

The skinning ideas have hit the mark with your podcast and yes there are more people skinning now than ever before. So there is going to be an increase in submissions for the summer. I can't wait till the holidays are back and there are even more good things going on.

Very nice podcast this time around. Looking forward to what is next. Hope you all had a good forth and are having a good week back already. Keep up the great work and Thank you for the Skin Artistry portion.

So far I've gotten two solid rants in on the podcast.  First AT&T, now this.  Are folks interested in a semi-regular rant as part of the show?

Only if there is a situation that warrants it. There is enough ranting and whinning in the forums. I don't think you really want the SkinCasts to go in that direction, or maybe you do.

Question, with the first several episodes you were letting the community know how you were doing with number of downloads of folks listening. Where is it at right now?

on Jul 08, 2008
We're actually not sure on the number of downloads anymore.  The software I was using to count and track listeners basically choked on the server logs and just spews out errors now.
