From technology to politics to video games; these are the random thoughts of a geek with too much time on his hands

It used to be that computers and monitors were so insanely expensive that the idea of owning more than one seemed like 100% excess and luxury.  Plus, how many PCs and screens could a single person actually need at any given time?  Well, costs have dropped, and the complexity of what people do with their computers is continually increasing, so people have started moving to multi-computer and multi-monitor setups.  For us geeks, it's sort of a competition to have the coolest PC/monitor layout.

LifeHacker, a popular techblog, is running a story today about some of the cooler workstation setups members of their readership have.  It's always fun to see what setups other people have.  Here at work, I've got 2 PCs and a laptop.  PC 1 has 2 19" LCDs, PC 2 has 1 17" LCD and the laptop is a 15".  All of them are controlled seamlessly by the wonders of Multiplicity

Is your setup cooler than the ones shown in the article?  If so, show them off here!

My setup at home isn't quite that cool. I have a desktop PC with two monitors... a 19" and a 15". I also have a laptop with a 14" widescreen. The laptop faces my 53" HDTV which is connected to my XBox360 which usually streams media from my Vista Ultimate desktop (running deskscapes).

Both the Desktop and the laptop also have Parallels installed such that I can run Ubuntu to control my VPS.

I just recently finished a case mod on my pc. It's nothing crazy or wild, but it sure beats the old case. I also run dual monitors, but I'm a poor college boy so they are big old CRT's.

Origional case:

I have been running dual monitors about 5 years now. My first dual monitors were 15 inchers. I recently got a 24" widescreen for my main and am currently waiting for my secondary 19" monitor to show up. They will be running on the nVidia 8600 GTS. I love dual monitors, it's way more productive. Once you DUAL, going back isn't COOL.

I have so much crap in this room if I took a picture you couldn't tell where the computer setup is.

The one from Joseph Thomas is extremely slick, that glass desk! Same goes for the silver wall mounted screen.

Nothing beats black glass for aesthetics.
