Yes, shocking though it may be, I agree with the President on his Illegal Immigrant plan. But how could I, a card-carrying democrat, who voted against President Bush in both elections, who supports gay marraige and any number of other fluffy happy-go-lucky liberal agenda items agree with he who is considered the Anti-Christ amongst my more extreme bretheren? Simple, the plan makes sense and is doable. Illegals have to go. Simple as that. They need to be shown the door and sent pac...

What we as Americans need right now is a real enemy. Not some cult of personality with fanatics scattered all over the place. That's not an enemy we can unite against, they're too hard to pin down and define. The reason the War on Terror is faring so poorly in the eyes of the public isn't because of liberal media bias, or democrats laying blame, or republicans failing to pitch it to the public. Nope, the War on Terror is failing because we can't point to a map and say where it is, we can'...

Welcome back LEGO Fans! After a 6 month haitus, I'm back with my LEGO Star Destroyer Photo Blog. When last you read about my progress in October, I had completed the base frame, stand, and one quarter of the hull plating. Well, after months and months of delay I sat down again with all the bags of plastic pieces strewn about me and set to work. I only intended to get maybe the rest of the hull plating done and then save the rest for another weekend, but well... that didn't exactly work. ...

For those of you living under a rock (or just the non-gamers here), Bethesda Softworks released the fourth installment to their outstanding Elder Scrolls series yesterday; Oblivion. Being a fan of the single-player RPG and having gone years since the last good one released for the PC, I snagged my copy as soon as it came out. I've only spent about 4hrs with the game so far so I can't post a full review, but I do have a few, short, initial impressions of the game. First, here are my syste...

SANS – Day 2 Ok, so today was the official start of the conference, but outside of classes not a whole lot goes on aside from a few late evening speeches or vendor demos. They had the first vendor meet & greet, but I didn’t make it to that. Today, was Epcot. Well, first I had to take the shuttle system out to the hotel the conference is being held at (Walt Disney Swan & Dolphin Resorts) to register, get my conference badge and pick up my books for training. They handed me a t...

Tired of the drama on JU this week? Sick of reading about this person leaving, or that person showing solidarity with Cause Against The Man #123? Then I hope you enjoy the next few articles I post this week as I chronicle my company-paid stay at.... DISNEY WORLD Late last year I talked to my manager about getting some security-specific training and certification to help me do better at my job. He agreed and I immediately set out to find what sort of cert I should get. My search brou...

I've written a few articles in the past about the sci-fi story I'm writing, but it was all pretty random and didn't have any direction. I've put together little pieces of history and explanation over the past few months but never articulated my actual goal. So what appears below is my goal for the universe I'm creating... why I'm writing it and what I hope to get out of it... Lost Galaxy is a universe where humanity faces a number of challenges stretching from it's first reach for the ...

A lot of fuss has been kicked up on JU recently over the Bible and its literal interpretations, the counterproof to refute and the arguments that get bandied back and forth to try and convince someone else that you're right and they're wrong. I've made clear my approach, which is essentially this: The ten commandments, the rules and guidelines of the Garden of Eden (don't eat the apple), all the strictures on what you can and can not eat, do, sleep with etc all boil down to a few simple r...

WARNING: Self-congratulatory fluff type of article follows. If you don't like anniversary/milestone posts, please go elsewhere! Two years ago today, I posted my first article here on JU. It was just days after I had graduated from college and was setting out on the grand adventure called life. In the article I set myself 5 goals for the following year. Get a job, become financially indepenent, become more social, meet a nice girl, and start to figure out what I want to be doing in lif...

I'm sure by this point; most people have heard of the webpage that NORAD (North American Aerospace Defense Command) puts up in conjunction with volunteers from around the country that tracks Santa Claus on his mad dash around the globe. It's got funny little videos, a map that updates throughout the day with where Santa's already been etc. It's a ton of fun and kids love it. http://www.noradsanta.org/ Well, sometimes, it's just something like this that can keep a kid believing in Sant...

This is more of an informational bit than an actual article like I usually write... If you're one of the many who is still trying to get your hands on an XBox360 and have lost all hope of your preorder ever coming in, or just don't want to brave the 100+ person lines outside BestBuy at 3am in the freezing cold, there's still a chance! Through my favorite Gaming resource sites, I found my way to the XBox360 Tracker (http://www.xbox360tracker.com) which automatically checks about 70 onlin...

A good number of you are pretty tech-saavy and as a result end up being the unofficial tech support person for your friends and family. Heck, I bet a fair number of you even do some tech support professionally. I myself spent a good solid 8 years doing front-line helpdesk work for both my High School, and later at my University. Today I do some higher-level support, but most of my work is centered around infrastructure projects. Some time ago I wrote an article about a Computer Help spo...

UPDATE: I got the game working finally. Turns out there's some odd problem with unpacking the assets file on load. This thread outlines how to fix the renderer error if you have up to date drivers and directx... http://apolyton.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=4090697&t=1441#post4090697 There are certain games out there that bring back a flood of memories with just the mention of their name. These games are the cornerstones of PC and video games, and anyone who considers themselves ...
