Last week, we released WindowBlinds 6 to the skinning world.  After a long and very productive beta, everyone could get a chance to try out the latest and greatest in Windows skinning.  There is even a shareware version for those of you who like to try before you buy.  To go along with the release we posted a poll to see if you had jumped on board yet, and if not, when (if ever).  Overall, it was one of our most successful polls in recent memory.  The vast majority of...

Our Master of Heartless Capitalism, Island Dog, recently made a post looking for Halloween skins from the community.  Well, he's posted a renewed call for folks to step forward with their best Halloween skin efforts.  So far, on the front-page alone, we've featured a handful of Halloween projects... Community Skin Project #2: Halloween Suite buzzh58's Raven Theme Night Train's October Skin Of course, a quick skim through the gallery will reveal a heck of a lot more s...

Master Apprentice buzzh58 this week released a full set of skin elements as part of his new Raven theme.  In total, so far he's released a DesktopX Theme, a pack of DX widgets, a wallpaper and a RightClick Skin.  It's a dark theme, perfect for this time of year.  Overall excellent art direction, and something fairly unique.  If you're looking to get your PC into the Halloween spirit, be sure to check these out. Community suite projects and individual skinners spinni...

Dear JU Faithful, At the moment we are looking into what would be involved in an update to this site.  There's no question that it's been a while since it got some tender, loving care from development, and we're thinking we *might* have some time in the coming months to address this problem. As we do these updates, we also might be able to sneak in one or two new features, if time permits.  So, we'd like to hear from you on what you would like to see added to the site in an updat...

To go along with the launch of WindowBlinds 6, Stardock Design has been hard at work putting together some fantastic professional-quality skins for everyone here.  The best part is they're free!  You've already seen Adamant by Alexandrie.  Today we've got a new one from MikeB314! Are you looking for a new skin that has a bit of a retro feel while showing off some of the new, fancy features of WindowBlinds 6 and Windows Vista? Well, to fill that need, MikeB314 put ...

It looks like the community project concept is alive and well once again.  Previously, we featured the Citrium community project which produced skins for WindowBlinds , Xion , ObjectDock , Rainlendar and RightClick , plus a wallpaper and a DX Widget pack .  Incredibly impressive work that should remind us all that there's still a wealth of great talent in the community. Back in July, theAVMAN took up the cause and started talking about doing a new community projec...

Ok, so day-in and day-out you see news from me and articles from Island Dog.  I bet you're eager to hear from other voices in the community (and heck, my fingers could use the break from typing!).  This week, we have two articles I'd like to highlight from the community. SkinStudio 6 (Beta) Overview - By Quentin94 SkinStudio 6 is nearing release, and one thing that people have been looking for are tutorials or guides on how best to use this completely redesigned skinning tool....

September has come and gone, so it's time for Island Dog to sift through all the Dream animated wallpapers uploaded to WinCustomize over the course of the month, and pick out a few to highlight in his review video.  Turns out that September was a really good month for Dreams.  Submissions kicked up just like they did across all categories on the site, with some of the best Dreams I've seen submitted since we kicked off the gallery back in January with the release of DeskScapes. ...

This week's poll is all about WindowBlinds 6.  It seems like a good idea considering it was released into the wild just yesterday to some pretty positive press .  What we're wondering is if you've made the upgrade from WindowBlinds 5, and if not, do you intend to?  Since WindowBlinds 6 represents such a major step forward for skinning with things like animated start menus and Vista visual effects for Windows XP, we're very interested in the general opinion on whether or not peopl...

About two weeks ago we underwent a bit of a shift in the sort of news that goes up on the front page of WinCustomize.  Where it was exclusively tech news gathered from around the web, it has become pretty much just skinning news centered around the community and what it's currently doing.  After two weeks with the new format, we've already seen a jump in discussion on front page items, and the response overall has been pretty positive.  But we still wanted to get some better feed...

Adrenaline, a beautiful skin by community veteran and skinner extraordinaire PixelPirate, has just been updated to include support for WindowBlinds 6 and Microsoft Windows Vista.  Based on a skin submitted to a PowerArchiver competition some time back, Adrenaline is a clean skin with just the right amount of glitz and glamour.  If you missed it when it was originally uploaded earlier this year, you definitely need to check it out now under WindowBlinds 6 and/or Win...

Today we're kicking off a little experiment on WinCustomize.  We are exploring products and services that will allow you to take the site with you, so to speak.  While we want you to spend as much time as possible browsing the site, sometimes you do the unthinkable and click a link to some other site, and leave us here, wondering when you'll come back.  We miss you.  We made cookies but you weren't here.  I think I even saw Jafo with a tear in his eye.  Don't do th...
